Summary:Objetive: Describe the type and nature of violence, its implications on the health of the population and the challenges faced by nursing from the health perspective. Development: Violence is a public health worldwide, generates consequences on the health of people, causing serious costs to the economy and affecting health systems. Causes feeling of insecurity which impacts family, and quality of life of those living at risk dynamics. To deal with this problem nurses must perform an important role in providing integral care due to their preparation by intervening assertively with people or groups that require your attention. Conclusions: The nurse is key to manage and lead changes in health systems directed to improving outcomes of health care, we must work proactively in multi and interdisciplinary teams, plan and manage health care to community groups and vulnerable populations from violence.
