This study aimed to determine the prevalence of resistance to antibiotics in bacteria isolated from hospital clinical samples in northwest Mexico. This study consisted of collecting the information from the logs of the cultures that were carried out in the Microbiology area of ​​the Clinical Analysis Laboratory and its resistance to antibiotics, from December 2016 to January 2018, in Hospital in Northwest Mexico. Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus aureus infections were the most common among patients from all care services. Klebsiella pneumonia Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter cloacae, S. aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and E. coli showed antibiotic resistance up to 90 and 100%. Benzylpenicillin was the antibiotic to which a high resistance was observed in the intensive care unit service (100%). High bacterial resistance to antibiotics was found from December 2016 to January 2018 in the present study and, in comparison with few Mexican studies, it has remained unchanged.

En México, la resistencia a los antimicrobianos, un problema de salud pública, es difícil de abordar debido a la ausencia de un ente regulador que controle de manera efectiva el uso y venta de antimicrobianos; la baja vigilancia de la prescripción y automedicación; y la falta de información. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la prevalencia de resistencia a antibióticos en bacterias aisladas de muestras clínicas hospitalarias en el noroeste de México. Este estudio consistió en recolectar información de las bitácoras de los cultivos que se realizaron en el área de Microbiología del Laboratorio de Análisis Clínicos y su resistencia a antibióticos, desde diciembre de 2016 hasta enero de 2018, en un Hospital del Noroeste de México. Las infecciones por Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae y Staphylococcus aureus fueron las más frecuentes entre los pacientes de todos los servicios de atención. Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter cloacae, S. aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis y E. coli mostraron resistencia a los antibióticos hasta en un 90 y 100%. La bencilpenicilina fue el antibiótico al que se observó alta resistencia en el servicio de cuidados intensivos (100%). En el presente estudio se encontró una alta resistencia bacteriana a los antibióticos desde diciembre de 2016 hasta enero de 2018 y, en comparación con pocos estudios mexicanos, se ha mantenido sin cambios.
