(1971/2007), this article presents an overview of the situation of women in the performing arts and theatre in Sonora. After the discussion of concepts such as ‘the feminine’ and ‘gender’, it focuses, in a second step, on the active role of women in theatrical production and acting in the region. This article thus understands itself as a first step for future investigations analyzing the Sonoran theater scene from the perspective of gender. Keywords: A partir del análisis que hace Linda Nochlin sobre la situación de las mujeres en las Artes Visuales en su artículo ¿Por qué no han existido grandes artistas mujeres? (1971/2007), este trabajo tiene el objetivo de proporcionar un panorama de la situación de las mujeres en el teatro de Sonora. Discutiendo primero conceptos como ‘lo femenino’ y ’género’, se busca después destacar el rol activo de las mujeres en la escena teatral del estado, tanto en la producción como en la dirección y difusión. El artículo se entiende, por consiguiente, como un primer paso para futuras investigaciones que quieran profundizar en el tema desde la perspectiva de género.
