This is the reason why the professionals that design and build these industry’s buildings must provide high quality facilities that reach their whole usable life, generating durable, functional and innocuous spaces. Nevertheless, given the activities and high organic content of the handled agri-livestock products and the necessity to preserve them frozen at very low temperatures and with high quality and cleanliness standards, this is a significant challenge, including, on top of all, selecting materials capable of resisting these duty conditions. Keeping at the leading-edge in durable products and building processes is imperative in order to not to be out of this economy sector of the country and specifically of the state of Sonora, context that is addressed in this article. Sonora es un estado con una industria alimentaria presumible, porque a pesar de las condiciones climáticas, la sequía y las disputas del norte y sur del estado por el agua, su industria agropecuaria se ha destacado en el país. Por lo mismo los profesionistas que diseñan y construyen los inmuebles de esta industria deben aportar edificaciones de calidad que alcancen su vida útil, generando espacios durables, funcionales e inocuos. Dadas las actividades y la elevada carga orgánica en los productos agropecuarios que se manejan, al igual que la necesidad de conservarlos congelados a muy bajas temperaturas y con altos estándares de calidad y limpieza, el reto es significativo, sobre todo en cuanto a seleccionar materiales capaces de resistir estas condiciones de servicio. Mantenerse a la vanguardia en el diseño y construcción de productos y procesos durables, es importante para no quedar fuera de este motor de la economía del país y específicamente del estado de Sonora, contexto que se aborda en el presente artículo.
