The present cross-sectional, correlational research compared contact and social distance to drug trafficking in two groups of adolescents (urban and rural) in Nayarit, using the Psychosocial Proximity to Drug Trafficking Scale. The results showed less social distance with drug traffickers in rural adolescents; different patterns in contact with narcoculture productions and positive correlation between level of contact, social distance and contact with information or cultural productions of drug trafficking. This suggests that, besides current contact with drug traffickers, information and contact with productions related to drug trafficking could influence the intention to contact their agents. La aceptación del narcotráfico deriva en un problema importante en México, pues es visto por amplios sectores como una oportunidad de ascenso social. El objetivo de la investigación fue comparar el grado de exposición y aceptación del fenómeno en adolescentes en sus espacios de socialización. La presente investigación, de tipo transversal y correlacional, comparó el contacto y distancia social al narcotráfico en dos grupos de adolescentes (urbanos y rurales) de Nayarit a través de la escala de proximidad psicosocial al narcotráfico. Los resultados indicaron menor distancia social con narcotraficantes en adolescentes rurales, patrones distintos en el contacto con producciones de narco-cultura y correlación positiva entre nivel de contacto, distancia social y contacto con información o producciones culturales del narcotráfico. Esto sugiere que, además de la interacción real con narcotraficantes, la exposición a la información y producciones relativas al narcotráfico influye en la intención de contacto con sus agentes.
