It is also important to mention that sexual satisfaction affects the quality of life of older people and involves issues like self-esteem, so understanding this phenomenon can lead to improved quality of care provided health professionals to that population. It determined that sexual satisfaction is an influential element positively on the self-esteem of the elderly and thus is an improvement in their quality of life; also it concludes that sexual satisfaction in later stages of life should be a subject addressed by the nursing professionals because of the great benefits it can bring to the Alarm time provide comprehensive care in this population group. La finalidad del presente artículo radica en analizar la importancia de la satisfacción sexual y la autoestima en las personas adultas mayores. La información se recolectó por medio de las bases de datos Scielo y EBSCO host, así como libros y tesis referentes al tema. Según el contenido encontrado se debe destacar que la satisfacción sexual no solo abarca aspectos coitales, sino que integra muchos otros. Además es importante mencionar que la satisfacción sexual influye en la calidad de vida de las personas mayores e involucra aspectos como la autoestima, por lo que la comprensión de este fenómeno puede llevar a mejorar la calidad de atención que brindan los (as) profesionales de la salud a dicha población. Se determina que la satisfacción sexual es un elemento influyente de manera positiva en la autoestima del adulto mayor y que de esta manera se ve una mejoría en su calidad de vida; también se concluye que la satisfacción sexual en etapas avanzadas de la vida debe ser un tema abordado por los (as) profesionales de Enfermería debido a los grandes beneficios que puede traer a la hora de brindar un cuidado integral en este grupo poblacional.
