The present work consists of examining the effects of eco-innovation and open innovation as a determinant element to increase the business reputation of SMEs. The research is based on a sample of 101 companies located in the region of Guaymas, Sonora, located in Northwest Mexico. The data collection was carried out in a period between September and November 2019, with the support of a structured instrument (survey) directed to the manager of the organization. For the analysis and validation of the results, the statistical technique of structural equation modeling (SEM) based on variance through PLS (Partial Least Square) was used. The results indicate that eco-innovation and open innovation have a significant influence on the business reputation of SMEs, and that implementing processes focused on environmental care through the combination of technology and knowledge is a business practice that allows raising the image before internal and external stakeholders in the business environment. The work contributes to the development of the literature and theory of sustainability, innovation and dynamic capabilities for business competitiveness in SMEs. El presente trabajo consiste en examinar los efectos de la eco-innovación e innovación abierta como elemento determinante para elevar la reputación empresarial que se ostenta en la PyMe. La investigación está sustentada en una muestra de 101 empresas localizadas en la región de Guaymas, Sonora, ubicada en el Noroeste de México. La recolección de los datos se realizó en un periodo comprendido entre septiembre y noviembre del año 2019, con el apoyo de un instrumento estructurado (encuesta) dirigida al gerente de la organización. Para el análisis y validación de los resultados, se ha utilizado la técnica estadística de modelado de ecuaciones estructurales (SEM) basada en la varianza a través de PLS (Partial Least Square). Los resultados indican que la eco-innovación y la innovación abierta tienen influencia significativa sobre la reputación empresarial de las Pymes, y que además el implementar procesos enfocados al cuidado al medio ambiente mediante la combinación de la tecnología y el conocimiento es una práctica empresarial que permite elevar la imagen antes los grupos de interés internos y externos en el entorno empresarial. El trabajo contribuye al desarrollo de la literatura y teoría de la sostenibilidad, innovación y capacidades dinámicas para la competitividad empresarial en la PyMe.
