סיכום:Strengthening Sustainable Artisanal Mining (FAMA acronym in spanish) is a project that seeks to empower artisanal miners to achieve more efficient safe, responsible extraction practices and decrease environmental impact, providing transdisciplinary knowledge: geological, mining, civil, environmental, and security, to positively influence extraction and thereby implement strategies for progress. Also, given the current health pandemic due to COVID-19, FAMA's call for action to guide artisanal miners on the path to economic reactivation. The pilot project is located southwest of the city of Hermosillo-Sonora, Mexico, in a mine called "Las Minitas", where the artisanal extraction of calcite (marble). With this project, FAMA joins the Sustainable Development Network for the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, a global initiative of the United Nations (UNO).
