The total sample corresponds to 204 university students whose mother tongue is Spanish and who, in the last six years, have registered a course on indigenous Costa Rican languages or foreign languages. The survey used is based on the Likert scale and on the semantic differential scale. The results identify the attitudinal behavior regarding indigenous and foreign languages, as well as the relationship between this behavior and the type of motivation for learning these languages. En el presente texto, se propone un análisis sobre las actitudes y motivaciones de los estudiantes universitarios costarricenses ante el aprendizaje de lenguas indígenas y extranjeras. La muestra total corresponde a 204 estudiantes universitarios hablantes del español como lengua materna quienes, en los últimos seis años, han matriculado algún curso de idioma indígena costarricense o extranjero. El cuestionario utilizado se basa en las escalas de Likert y diferencial semántico. En los resultados, se identifica el comportamiento actitudinal ante las lenguas indígenas y extranjeras, así como la relación entre este comportamiento y el tipo de motivación para el aprendizaje de estas lenguas.
