Resumo:There is no doubt that technology is today a key catalyst in the processes of innovation and business transformation. In the case of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), one of its main inhibitors for achieving innovation is the limitations of financial information in relation to certain key aspects, essential for decision making. This document is the first results obtained from a cross-sectional research work carried out within the SMEs in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, and its main objective is to determine the impact of technological innovation on Accounting information systems for the business competitiveness of SMEs in Hermosillo, Sonora. Among the first results it was found that 100% of the people in charge of accounting are aware that the great key to successfully face the current times lies in accentuating the innovation of accounting systems as generated information for decision making of companies, understanding by innovation as the capacity to transform business processes and create more competitive, agile and efficient organizations, not all SMEs use technological innovation within the accounting information systems.
