The experimental design was a randomized complete block withfour replications. The yield (t ha-1), 100-grain weight (HGW, g), and initial grain brightness (%) were measured on dry and clean samples. For each grain, digital image analysis was used to measure size (mm2), length, width, perimeter (mm), circularity, color, brightness, and luminosity. The yield was from 2.14 to 2.45 t ha-1 (p ≥ 0.05). Grain size correlated (p ≤ 0.05) with HGW (r = 0.97) and with its dimensions (r ≥ 0.94). Grain luminosity was higher in advanced lines (DSH = 0.74, p ≤ 0.05). Larger grains with less darkening evidenced better physical quality in Mo 19-20-ERR2-9 and Mo 19-20-ERR2-11 (p ≤ 0.05). Brightness and luminosity allow the identification coat darkening. Oxidation is slow in Azufrado Noroeste and Azufrado Higuera varieties, whereas Mo 19-20-ERR2-9, Mo 19-20-ERR2-11, and Mo 19-20-ERR2-12 lines have resistance. La calidad física del grano de frijol influye en la comercialización, se asocia con la morfología y cuantificarla permite identificar genotipos sobresalientes. Por ello, el objetivo fue evaluar las variedades Azufrado Higuera, Azufrado Noroeste y las líneas avanzadas: Mo 19-20-ERR2-9, Mo 19-20-ERR2-11 y Mo 19-20-ERR2-12. El diseño experimental fue bloques al azar con cuatro repeticiones. El rendimiento (t ha-1), peso de 100 granos (PCG, g) y el brillo del grano (%) se obtuvieron en muestras secas y limpias. El tamaño (mm2), largo, ancho, perímetro (mm), circularidad, color, brillo y luminosidad, de cada grano, se midieron mediante análisis de imágenes digitales. El rendimiento fue desde 2.14 hasta 2.45 t ha-1, sin diferencias entre genotipos. El tamaño de grano mostró correlación (p ≤ 0.05) con el PCG (r = 0.97) y con sus dimensiones (r ≥ 0.94). Las líneas avanzadas presentaron mayor luminosidad del grano (DSH = 0.74, p ≤ 0.05). Las líneas Mo 19-20-ERR2-9 y Mo 19-20-ERR2-11 tuvieron mejor calidad física, evidente en grano de mayor tamaño y con menor oscurecimiento (p ≤ 0.05). El brillo y la luminosidad permiten identificar la oxidación u oscurecimiento de la testa. La oxidación es lenta en Azufrado Noroeste y Azufrado Higuera, mientras que Mo 19-20-ERR2-9, Mo 19-20-ERR2-11 y Mo 19-20-ERR2-12 presentan resistencia.
