Descripción
Sumario:The information presented in this article shows how marine algae produce different bioactive compounds, including polysaccharides, which have antioxidant, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties, among others. The central part of this contribution focuses on informing about the importance of marine microalgae as a valuable source of polysaccharides that have generated great interest for their bioactive properties. It should be noted that, despite their recognized relevance, marine microalgae have been practically unexplored in relation to marine macroalgae. This article briefly and clearly describes the characteristics, bioactive properties and potential application of polysaccharides from marine microalgae.
